DAY 1

Board Druk Air fight from Delhi to Paro. This flight to Bhutan is your introduction to the views of mighty Himalayan ranges if the weather is clear. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, proceed to immigrations; surrender your passport, forms. The agent will stamp your visa into your passport, and then proceed to baggage area. While you are waiting for your luggage, you may wish to change some money into local currency (Ngultrum, about Nu 45 to $1.00 Dollar) at the bank opposite the baggage carousel. After collecting bags, proceed to customs where you surrender your customs form, then exit and meet the local guide. Over night at Paro.

DAY 2 : PARO - THIMPHU

In the morning visit the National Museum little gem of place, housed in a 200-year old watchtower overlooking the Paro Dzong. It houses a fine collection of national costumes and fabrics, an extensive gallery of thangkas, impressive stamp gallery – don’t miss the three dimensional ones- and the other galleries showcasing armor and silverware. This is a museum not to be missed. After the visit drive north to visit the historic ruins of Drugyel Dsong, which was built by Shabdrung Nawang Namgyel in 1647 to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan invaders. From here on clear day you can see views if Mt. Jomolhari, one of the highest peaks in the country. After Drugyel Dzong, you’ll angle back to Paro town where you can walk across the cantilevered bridge to get the fabulous photograph of National Museum, Paro Dzong and the Paro River. After lunch at the Hotel depart to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Overnight in Thimphu.

DAY 3 : THIMPHU

In the morning visit the National folk Heritage Museum for an insight into the typical Bhutanese way of life. Tour the Traditional Painting School of Arts & Crafts – Zorig Chusum where children are taught centuries’’ old crafts of painting, sculpture, sewing and embroidery. Visit the Traditional Medicine Center, which prepares and dispenses traditional herbal and other medicines. The National Textile Museum is worth a leisurely visit to learn about the living national art of weaving and to view master pieces of great weaving. Visit the Bhutan Post renowned for its beautiful stamps where every special event of the world is commemorated. Finally in the evening visit the Trashichhodzong – which dates back to the 13th century. Today it houses His Majesty’s Throne Room, several Government Ministries and is also home to the Monk Body. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.

DAY 4 : THIMPHU - PUNAKHA

Early drive to enjoy the spectacular view of the snow capped peaks and the marvelous sights of the rippling prayer flags at Dochu-La 3050m. Leaving the Pass behind us, you drive down through magnolia and rhododendron forests. while on the drive and on to tropical valley of Punakha. Visit the Punakha Dzong the former capital of Bhutan, now serving as the district administrative seat of Punakha and the winter palace for the monk body. On foot we cross the suspension bridge to the entrance of the Dzong located on the spit of land at the confluence of Mo and Pho Rivers (Male and Female rivers). This Dzong was partially destroyed by fire in the 80s and through the valiant efforts of the resident monks and hundreds of boys from the nearby high school who responded to the fire, the Dzong was saved. Since the late 80s it’s been under restoration, and finally concerated with pompus celebration end of the spring this year. Lunch will be hosted at a hotel in nearby Punakha town. After lunch drive to Wangdue to enjoy the marvelous setting of the town and the Dzong of the area.Overnight

DAY 5 : PUNKAH - PARO

Drive back to Paro. On the way see Tachogang Temple or the “Temple of the Hill of Excellent Horse” which rises in austere surroundings on the left bank of the river, a few km before Chhuzom at the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers. A Tibetan Saint had a vision of the excellent Horse Balaha – an emanation of Avalokiteshwara while he was meditating there. He decided thereupon to build a temple at this spot in addition to one of his famous iron bridges (later carried away by floods in 1969). The temple is believed to have been built in 1433. Continue your journey to Paro. Dinner and overnight in Hotel Gangtey Palace, Paro

DAY 6 : PARO – KOLKATA

Transfer to Paro airport for your onward on Druk Air flight to Kolkata. End of the tour.
